So I just finished up another batch of my world famous salsa. (Ok so maybe not world famous, but it's damn good alright?) It's been about 3 years since I last made salsa and of course there are some things that I keep forgetting.
1). Pick up some damn gloves so you protect your fingers from the hot peppers.
2). If you fail to follow #1, for God's sake be extra careful when using the bathroom.
3). Don't rub your eyes! (for like the next 2 days)
So I managed to pretty much forget all but #2. You only do that thing once before you realize that, "hey that hurts!" Cutting up around 4 cups of hot peppers without gloves is just dumb. I survived but my fingers were burning for at least 24 hours after I cut up the peppers (Wed night) and now are feeling rather warm again tonight after I finished preparing the rest of the salsa and canning it. Looks like I have 14 pints this year which should be enough. I may make a batch of milder salsa because some people can't take the heat.
The house is coming along nicely. We had http://www.vinylprowindows.com/ install our windows. There are two remaining, but the rest of the windows look great and really improve the look of the house. We're also in the process of residing the house. This involved adding 1 inch of pink Styrofoam insulation to the outside walls. We should see a huge drop in our heating (and cooling) bills with these changes. As long as we already had a mess, we decided to yank out the ugly faded paneling from the family room (Lisa's study room). Since I really suck at drywall mudding, my friend Bob from M&M Drywall will be stopping down in the next two weeks to do the final touches.
It really will be nice when we're done with all this stuff!
